My Story

Hello! I’m Portia Obeng and I enjoy teaching people how to harness the power of LinkedIn. Early in my career, I found myself in a terrible situation – I couldn’t stand my job. I was overworked, underpaid, and desperately needed out. When I thought things couldn’t get worse, I laid off. I was completely distraught and it was a tough time, but I didn't let it keep me down for long.

During my job search, I reached out to a career coach at my alma mater's Career Alumni Center. My coach encouraged me to revamp my LinkedIn profile, and that’s when everything shifted. With her guidance, we updated my profile, and I gained a strong understanding of all the incredible work I had done in my career.

After we made the updates, she recommended that I reach out to people on LinkedIn and request informational interviews with people who worked at organizations that piqued my interest. I had nothing to lose and everything to gain, so I fully stepped into my uncomfortable zone and went for it.

Within a month of having those informational interviews and making connections on LinkedIn, I landed a new job! At that moment I realized that LinkedIn is a powerful tool, and I needed to master it.

Fast forward to today, and I'm a business owner who has leveraged LinkedIn to generate strong leads, secure speaking gigs, and even land podcast interviews. It's been an incredible journey, and now, I'm passionate about helping students, mid-career professionals, and small and medium-sized businesses create unforgettable LinkedIn profiles.
